Introduction

Collective Care Rehabilitation Centre is a boutique residential rehabilitation centre located in Undri, Pune, offering structured therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing substance use concerns and underlying mental health challenges. Our approach focuses on emotional well-being, behavioural change, psychological support, and the development of healthier lifestyle habits.

Under the guidance of our Founder and Addiction Specialist, Sahil, Director Ms Yasmin Shaikh, and a team of trained mental health professionals, we provide a safe, supportive, and professional environment where individuals can work towards recovery, rebuild relationships, and develop the skills needed for a healthier future.

Rehabilitation at Collective Care goes beyond managing symptoms. It is a journey of self-discovery, emotional growth, and positive behavioural change, supported by personalised care and a structured residential environment.

What to Expect During Rehabilitation

1. Admission Process: Beginning the Recovery Journey

The rehabilitation journey begins with an initial admission assessment, during which the individual's personal details, substance use history, mental health concerns, family background, and presenting difficulties are documented. This helps the team understand the individual's needs and establish an appropriate course of care.

Family Psychoeducation is an important part of the admission process. Relatives are guided on the nature of addiction and mental health challenges, the purpose of rehabilitation, and the importance of providing consistent, constructive support throughout recovery. At Collective Care, our structured residential program is planned over approximately three months. This period provides individuals with the opportunity to participate in therapeutic interventions, develop healthier habits, understand their challenges, and work towards meaningful, sustainable change.

2. Grace Period: Adjusting to a New Environment

The initial adjustment period allows individuals to become familiar with the rehabilitation environment and gradually settle into a new routine. Depending on the substance used, the duration of use, and the individual's physical and psychological condition, some may experience withdrawal symptoms, emotional discomfort, sleep disturbances, cravings, or restlessness. During this period, the team focuses on comfort, observation, emotional support, and appropriate medical assessment. Individuals are encouraged to rest and gradually participate in simple activities, such as mindfulness-related TED Talks, emotional journaling, and reflective exercises.

These activities introduce individuals to emotional awareness and help them begin recognising their thoughts, feelings, and mood patterns without feeling overwhelmed. Journaling, in particular, offers a private space to express emotions and reflect on experiences that may be difficult to communicate verbally.

When clinically indicated, qualified medical professionals assess withdrawal symptoms and prescribe appropriate medication. The adjustment period is individualised according to each person's condition, with safety and well-being remaining the priority.

3. Symptom Management and Clinical Support

At Collective Care, Symptom Management is an important part of the recovery process. Individuals may experience anxiety, low mood, irritability, cravings, sleep difficulties, impulsivity, emotional instability, or other behavioural concerns alongside substance use.

The counselling team works closely with individuals to understand these difficulties, monitor their progress, and identify the emotional and behavioural patterns that may interfere with recovery. Regular counselling sessions, supportive conversations, behavioural observations, and structured therapeutic activities help individuals develop healthier coping mechanisms. Our Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Sayantani Mukherjee, conducts psychiatric evaluations and follow-up consultations, reviewing symptoms and prescribing or adjusting medication when clinically necessary. The team monitors progress and communicates relevant observations to support coordinated care.

The focus extends beyond managing immediate symptoms. Individuals are encouraged to understand their triggers, recognise early warning signs, improve emotional regulation, and develop practical strategies for handling stress, cravings, and interpersonal difficulties. Through consistent clinical support and therapeutic guidance, individuals can work towards improved stability, greater self-understanding, and better day-to-day functioning.

4. Structured Recovery Routine: Building Healthy Habits and Inner Awareness

At Collective Care, we believe that a structured daily routine plays an essential role in recovery. A balanced routine provides stability, encourages personal responsibility, and helps individuals gradually replace unhealthy patterns with more constructive habits.

Our program combines mindfulness, yoga, meditation, individual counselling, recreational activities, and opportunities for self-reflection. Each activity is designed to support psychological well-being, physical health, emotional regulation, and social development.

Silent Hour: The Core of Self-Reflection

One of the key components of our program is Silent Hour, a dedicated period for self-reflection, mindfulness, and emotional awareness. It offers individuals an opportunity to step away from external distractions, reduce unnecessary stimulation, and turn their attention inward. During "Silent Hour," individuals are encouraged to sit quietly, practise mindful breathing, meditate, journal, or observe their thoughts and feelings without immediately reacting to them. The emphasis is not on forcing the mind to become completely silent but on learning to notice thoughts and emotions with greater awareness and acceptance.

For individuals recovering from addiction or managing mental health challenges, constant distractions can sometimes become a way of avoiding uncomfortable emotions. Silent Hour encourages them to gradually develop a healthier relationship with their inner experiences.

This practice can help individuals:

  • Recognise emotional triggers and recurring thought patterns.

  • Develop greater self-awareness and emotional understanding.

  • Improve concentration and mindfulness.

  • Learn to pause before reacting impulsively.

  • Become more comfortable with quiet time and reduced external stimulation.

  • Reflect on personal choices, daily experiences, and recovery goals.

Silent Hour is not intended to be a period of isolation or punishment. It is a supportive opportunity to reconnect with oneself and practise emotional awareness in a calm environment. Individuals can gradually learn to identify what they feel, understand why they may be feeling it, and consider healthier ways to respond.

At Collective Care, Silent Hour is an important part of our recovery routine, encouraging individuals to slow down, listen to themselves, and develop the self-awareness that supports lasting change.

Mindfulness, Yoga, and Meditation

Alongside Silent Hour, individuals participate in mindfulness practices, yoga, and meditation to support the connection between physical and psychological well-being.

These activities encourage individuals to pay attention to the present moment, manage stress, and become more aware of bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions. With regular practice, they may develop healthier ways to respond to cravings, anxiety, frustration, and other emotional challenges.

Individual Counselling and Therapeutic Activities

Regular individual counselling sessions are conducted by the psychology team. These sessions focus on personal concerns, emotional regulation, self-esteem, negative thinking patterns, interpersonal relationships, and recovery goals. Through appropriate therapeutic approaches, individuals work towards understanding their behaviour, identifying unhelpful beliefs, strengthening coping skills, and developing practical solutions to everyday challenges.

Recreation and Healthy Social Interaction

Recovery also involves learning to enjoy life without relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms. Recreational Activities such as Badminton, indoor games, and other group-based engagements encourage teamwork, communication, physical activity, and positive use of leisure time. Planned outings, including lunches, dinners, and sightseeing activities, provide opportunities to practise social interaction and gradually build confidence in different environments. Collaborative activities, such as planning and preparing meals together, encourage cooperation, shared responsibility, communication, and healthy bonding among residents. These experiences help individuals develop a sense of community while learning to respect boundaries and work together. Through this balanced combination of therapeutic work, Silent Hour, physical activity, recreation, and daily responsibilities, individuals gradually develop habits that can support their transition back into everyday life.

5. Personalised Treatment Plans: Care That Meets Individual Needs

At Collective Care, we recognise that every individual's recovery journey is different. Substance use, mental health concerns, family relationships, emotional experiences, and personal circumstances can vary significantly. Therefore, treatment is tailored to the individual's specific needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

The process begins with an understanding of the individual's history, current concerns, strengths, challenges, and recovery goals. Based on this understanding, the psychology team develops an individualised plan that may incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, emotional regulation strategies, mindfulness, self-esteem building, relapse prevention, and other appropriate therapeutic approaches.

Sessions focus on identified problem areas, such as anxiety, anger, impulsivity, negative thinking, interpersonal conflicts, low confidence, cravings, or difficulty managing emotions. Individuals are encouraged to recognise the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and practise healthier responses in real-life situations.

Treatment plans are reviewed and adapted according to the individual's progress, participation, and changing needs. Therapeutic Goals may include:

  • Developing emotional awareness and self-regulation.

  • Improving confidence, self-esteem, and decision-making.

  • Identifying triggers and strengthening relapse-prevention skills.

  • Building healthier communication and interpersonal relationships.

  • Establishing consistent routines and personal responsibility.

  • Developing constructive coping strategies for stress and difficult emotions.

Family involvement and psychoeducation may also be incorporated when appropriate, helping relatives develop healthier communication patterns and provide constructive support. The ultimate goal is to help individuals develop self-awareness, emotional resilience, personal responsibility, and practical coping skills that extend beyond their stay at the centre.
